Hi, One of these "experiments" is black-background dance portraits to isolate the subject. During this experimentation-session I simply pre-focused and had the dancer aim for the focal plane (tape line on the floor) during any movement. It worked. But I also had several "just missed it" shots when she was out of the focal plane. How do other photog's take these kinds of portraits? Is pre-focus the "standard technique" or is there something I'm not doing and could do to utilize my camera's AF? I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
