Description:
Firmly in the middle of the road when it comes to physical development, Masaaki stands 5'7" tall and weighs 126 lbs. He's just beginning to show signs of coming into adulthood with the broadening of his shoulders. All in all though, he isn't a particularly impressive specimen as far as ninja go. He compensates for what he lacks in muscle and height with windswept brown hair of medium length that sometimes takes hours to get to look that way. Similarly, he spends all too much time (and money) on his clothes and accessories in order to achieve a look that says, "I just throw on whatever and look this great!" How many people he fools or see through his veneer of dispationate fashion, no one knows.
In the realm of faces, which Masaaki'd really rather you not try to break, he enjoys clear skin and a pair of sultry green eyes, or is that guy liner? At any rate, few men in Konoha bother to go to the extents that Masaaki will. Looking this great is a passion and an art form, not something for the faint of heart. And yes, he did spend thirty minutes this morning deciding what angle was best for his rakish scarf.
Personality:
There are people and there are performers in this world. Those who yearn to watch and those who yearn to be seen. Masaashi is part of the later. Every moment, from when he gets up before dawn to when he goes to sleep at night, is spent preparing and strutting for the crowd. Nothing is as important as appearances. Some people try to cultivate the most deadly jutsu. "No one can escape my technique!", they might boast. But these simpletons miss the entire point. When you perfect a technique, no one can ignore its brilliance.
Burning bright is the way of a winner. Only burn half as long you say? Who cares? A life not lived to the fullest is a waste. Who wants a double portion of mediocrity? Not Masaaki. Sure, sometimes things can get a little out of hand. The pursuit of greatness has it casualties, mostly buildings and the like. Nothing that can't be rebuilt. After all, would fire be so beautiful if not for its destructive power? Fire is the ultimate expression of my art and style, a show that plays only for a single night. Witness it's blaze and marvel, for nought but ash and cinders will remain in it's wake.
Bio:
The Great War took things from us all. For Masaaki it was his father. Yet unborn, his father died in the final death rattle of the third shinobi war. Things were sparse for years after that. It was just Masaaki and his mother. Luckilly for him, he doesn't remember any of it. His memories pick up in happier times, starting around age five.
Masaaki and his mother resided in the village hidden in the leaves in an apartment over a laundry mat. With her husband dead, Tsubaki Kurosawa was left with the burden of supporting and raising her son alone. To that end she had started a buisness, taking in local laundry. Hearing stories of his father, Masaaki had it in his head from a young age he would be just like him. The truth was that the boy resembled him somewhat, but didn't share his temperament. Hachiro Kurosawa was a sever man with fierce eyes dark as coal. Masaaki was showboat with a twinkle in his eyes. His mother could never bear to set that record straight for him and the locals were to kind to take such a cheap shot at a boy with no father. So he went to the academy, delusions in his head. Of course, nothing played out like he thought it would.
He couldn't wait to brag about his father, the hero. Surely his classmates would be impressed that he was the son of such a great man. Surely they would all know his name and the tales of his heroics, but it was not so. Masaaki was dumped into a big ocean from his little pond. Back in his pond everyone knew who he was and how great he was going to be, but here in the ocean no one knew or cared. He went home after the first day, crushed by his own expectations.
Tsubaki was never one to let her son be morose though. She knew just the thing to get Masaaki's new school mates to like him. That night and the next morning she spent getting him ready. An outfit carefully chosen, hair coifed just so, and a new pair of sandals to top it all off. All he had to do now was walk tall. So much easier said than done. After striking out on day two he learned the lesson that would carry him through the rest of his life. Fake it till you make it. From then on things gradually improved. By the time he graduated had taken the whole 'cool guy' thing to the next level, but it wasn't to compare to what came to follow.
Academy techniques are nice and all, but no ninja can really call themselves that until they develop into their own style. For Masaaki, it call happened fairly quickly. They each tested their elemental chakra affinitities and he found his was fire. He trained tirelessly to make the most impressive fireballs, flashes of searing white flame that could blind and daze viewers. It wasn't long after that he began training with wires, learning to manipulate them into forests of entangling steel. After all, its not good to just dazzle a viewer when you could have them as a captive audience. Besides, the way of the wire was sophisticated and cool, everything girls wanted in a guy, and he desperately wanted to be that guy. After all, wasn't that the ultimate reason behind all this effort? It didn't used to be, but it sure seemed like it now.
Fighting Style:
Obfuscate. Hide your intentions behind a facade meant to draw their attention. Then, once their focus has been broken employ a trap for them that they will never see coming. Only then should you employ direct methods. Keep your opponent off balance and defy their expectations. For if they can't predict what is coming, their end is neigh.
Way of the Wire
Requirements: Control +2
The way of the wire teaches how to turn standard wire (the kind in every ninja kit) into a very capable fighting implement. Not only does the style teach restraint techniques and snares, but it encorperates other elements of the standard ninja kit to create a versatile tool for movement and much more. Practitioners learn to manipulate multiple lengths of wire at a time; using them to slice, trip, entangle, constrict, swing, and more. While able to directly attack, the style is mainly one of a more subtle variety, providing setup and support to other techniques and team mates.
Aspects:
"Many Strands Are Stronger Than One"
"Environmentally Dependent"
Ninjutsu: Katon (Fire) Style
Fire Style Ninjutsu is used to create and control flames and heat through means of using their mouth. This style is explosive and demanding and is veiwed as one of the most feared elements of the world.
